Last November I spent several days in Montgé-en-Goële, just outside of Paris, working with saxophone guru Daniel Kientzy. Our goal was to digitally assemble the pre-recorded accompaniment parts for the piece I had written for him, Concertino: Beautiful Beast, scored for contra-bass saxophone, 2 banjos, 2 12-string guitars, and non-electric bass guitar. We haven’t finished putting it all together – it’s still a work in progress. I hope to visit again in the not too distant future (having somewhat improved my French in the meantime…)
