Praise

Assignment: to write a short work for organ and one other instrument, of easy to moderate difficulty and suitable for use as service music. I chose percussion as my “other instrument” and, inspired by Emma Lou Diemer’s wonderful Psalms for Percussion and Organ, thought of using steel pan. Practical considerations (tuning, availability of instrument and player) dictated that substitutes be suggested, hence marimba or vibraphone. I imagine Praise as a recessional.
